DIY Clay Kit + Glazing/Firing

Bring the world of pottery into your home and let’s get making! Our clay kits are perfect for getting together with friends, family, housemates or partners for a fun and creative DIY session. They also make a lovely birthday, anniversary, special occasion or lockdown gift!

Designed for those without prior experience, this kit is all you need to get started in the exciting world of clay. Get creative and explore on your own, or follow our step-by-step visual guide to create beautiful handmade ceramics.

Each kit is carefully crafted and made to order. It includes our most-loved studio tools and favourite paints for adding texture and colour to your creations. All materials are food-safe and non-toxic so your finished work can be used for eating and drinking. In keeping with our sustainability efforts, our instruction cards are now printed on recycled kraft paper and may appear different to the photos shown.

We offer two kit sizes: Standard and Sharing

Our standard kit is ideal for 1-2 people, whereas our sharing kit includes everything in our standard kit plus additional clay (1.2kg extra clay), tools and paints for 3-4 people. Depending on the size of your creations, you may be able to create anywhere between 2-8 ceramics with our standard kit, and up to 15 ceramics with our sharing kit.

Complimentary glazing and firing

Publicly accessible kiln services manage thousands of ceramics at a time, which often leads to mishandling, breakages and things going missing. That’s why, in addition to this kit, we’re including our studio glazing and firing service to take the stress of finding a kiln off your shoulders. The booking period for this complimentary service is one year from purchase.

After making your ceramics, we’ll personally collect them for glazing and firing, and deliver them back to you if you live within 30kms driving distance of our Healesville studio (map). If you live outside this radius and are happy to travel, please drop off and collect your work here. Alternatively, if you’re unable to travel to Healesville, we also organise monthly collection dates at various pop-up venues (bookings required, for more information see here), so you can conveniently drop-off your raw creations or collect your finished work at a location closer to you.

Rest assured, instructions for arranging pickups and drop-offs are included in each kit – so gift recipients will know exactly what to do when they have completed theirs.

Want to learn more about our glazing and firing process? Our expert kiln technician will personally handle and glaze your creations, and ensure they are safely and securely fired in our private kiln away from prying eyes. You can choose to glaze each piece in either a clear gloss or white glaze. As part of this service, we will also sand and polish your ceramics free of charge prior to delivery.
